Takraw, often called Sepak Takraw, is an
ancient ball game that was the precursor to hackey sack and other net games. It has been
played for thousands of years in Asia and still is today in Malaysia, Indonesia and
Thailand. Originally takraw was played with a woven rattan ball as pictured to the left. Modern games often use a plastic ball that withstands more punishment. We import takraw balls from Indonesia and Malaysia, including the rattan balls pictured at the left. We prefer the the rattan balls for the traditional and "ethnic" look, and they are quite durable. The takraw ball is a great tool for the soccer and footbag player, and many people report that they work well as a replacement for a footbag. |
